Your First Campervan or RV Trip? You’re Going to Love It

Try it once—and you’ll be hooked. The freedom. The views. The joy of waking up somewhere unforgettable with everything you need right there with you.

Campervan and RV travel turns everyday journeys into something magical—and it’s not just for the seasoned adventurers. Whether you're a nature lover, a festival-goer, a runner, a foodie, or simply curious, there’s a first trip with your name on it.

Why You’ll Love It

  1. Total freedom: Skip check-in times and unpacking. Go where you want, when you want.
  2. Incredible places to stay: Camp by the sea, in the forest, beside a vineyard—places no hotel can reach.
  3. Comfort meets adventure: Real beds, your own kitchen, a warm place to relax—even if it rains.
  4. Unforgettable experiences: Wake up with a view, cook outdoors, meet new people at the campsite.
  5. Way easier than it sounds: If you can drive a car, you can drive a campervan—and we’ll help you choose the right one.

What Kind of First Campervan Trip Fits You Best?

There’s no one way to fall in love with campervan travel. Whether you’re craving nature, fun with friends, or something built around your passion—you’ll find a first trip that’s just right.

🌲 Experience the Great Outdoors

Why it’s great for first-timers:
Being in nature is one of the biggest joys of campervan travel—and the best way to experience what makes it special. A destination like the west coast of Sweden, with its wide-open roads, quiet lakes, and forest trails, is the perfect place to unlock that feeling. It’s peaceful, spacious, and easy to drive—ideal for your first trip.

🎉 Turn It Into a Party

Why it’s great for first-timers:
A festival is where campervans shine—you get all the fun, none of the hassle. It’s a major upgrade from a tent: your own clean toilet, a real bed, a fridge, and a warm, dry place to recharge between acts. At Latitude Festival, you can park just steps from the music and feel part of the action all weekend.

🥂 Take a Long Weekend Trip

Why it’s great for first-timers:
A four-day weekend is all it takes to discover what campervan travel is all about. You don’t need to fly—just pick up the van near your home, hit the road, and be somewhere completely new by nightfall. A campervan trip to the Champagne region of France lets you sip world-class bubbles by sunset, and wake up among the vines.

👥 Go Together

Why it’s great for first-timers:
Trying something new is easier (and more fun) with friends. From the moment you hit play on your road trip playlist, you’re in a different mindset. Whether you’re laughing on the ferry or landing a parachute together, something like skydiving in Texel is unforgettable—and even better when you share it.

🏨 Mix Campervan & Hotel Comfort

Why it’s great for first-timers:

You don’t have to choose between the freedom of the road and the comfort of a hotel—you can have both. Just one great example is to explore South Africa’s Garden Route by campervan, stopping at beaches, forests, and mountain passes. Then finish your trip with a stay in a boutique hotel in Cape Town or a vineyard estate in the Winelands. It’s the perfect blend of wild and refined.

Frequently Asked Questions for First-Time Campervan Travellers

Do I need special experience to drive a campervan?

Nope! Most campervans can be driven with a regular driver’s licence and feel similar to driving a large SUV or van. We’ll help you choose a beginner-friendly model, and rental providers give a full walkthrough before you set off.

Where do you sleep in a campervan?

Wherever the trip allows! Many of our trips include hand-picked campsites, festival fields, vineyards, or nature stays with overnight access. Some vans also allow for wild camping where it’s legal. You’ll always know where to go—and you’ll always have a cozy bed with you.

Is it comfortable? What about bathrooms and showers?

Campervans today are surprisingly comfortable. Most have real beds, a small kitchen, electricity, and heating. Many beginner-friendly vans also include a toilet—and if not, we’ll point you to stops with great facilities. Campsites on our routes often have hot showers and cafés.

What do I need to pack?

Not much! Most vans come equipped with basic kitchen gear and bedding. You’ll want comfortable clothes, layers for different weather, good shoes, and anything specific to your passion (e.g. running shoes, wine glasses, hiking gear). We’ll provide a checklist before you go.

Can I bring kids? What about pets?

Absolutely. Many first-time travellers are families or couples with kids—and some campervans are even pet-friendly. Just filter by your needs when picking your van or experience. The flexibility of campervan travel makes it great for family adventures.

Is it safe? What if something goes wrong?

Yes—campervan travel is safe and reliable, especially when you start with one of our curated routes. Rental vans come with insurance and support, and you’ll always have contact numbers in case of an issue. You’re never far from help.

Is it safe? What if something goes wrong?

Yes—campervan travel is very safe, especially when you go through trusted rental providers. Most rental companies offer modern vehicles, often less than two or three years old, with up-to-date safety features and easy handling. You’ll also have access to 24/7 roadside support in case anything unexpected happens on the road.

And don’t worry about the setup: all the right power cables and essential gear come with the van, so you can easily connect to campsites and stay comfortable and charged throughout your trip.
