There are many ways to enjoy this trip—from a long weekend adventure starting with camper pickup near Washington, D.C., to a full two-week loop through Virginia’s vineyards and Blue Ridge mountains, as outlined below.
Day 1 – Hotel Arrival in Washington, D.C.
Check into a boutique hotel near Dupont Circle or The Wharf. Enjoy dinner, walk the National Mall, and get ready for your road trip adventure.
Day 2 – Explore D.C. & Camper Pickup
Spend the morning visiting museums or the Capitol, then pick up your camper and head south. Overnight near Charlottesville or Shenandoah.
Drive time: ~2.5 hrs
Day 3 – Shenandoah Skyline Drive & Luray Caverns
Drive Skyline Drive through Shenandoah National Park, with chances to hike, picnic, and enjoy endless ridgeline views. Visit Luray Caverns or local wineries in the valley.

Day 4 – Blue Ridge Parkway to Roanoke
