Awesome roadtrips to combine with this city

Our suggestion for the best 7-day road trip leading up to the game:

📅 Day 1 – Vancouver → Squamish
Pick up your campervan in Vancouver and head north on the Sea-to-Sky Highway. This is one of the most scenic drives in North America, with ocean on one side and mountains on the other. Stop at Shannon Falls before setting up at a Squamish campground — the perfect first taste of RV freedom.
🚐 ~65 km | 1 hr

📅 Day 2 – Squamish Adventures
Spend the day in Garibaldi Provincial Park, where alpine meadows and turquoise lakes are only a short hike away. In the afternoon, reward yourself with craft beers in Squamish, a town buzzing with climbers, hikers, and now football fans sharing stories around the table.
🚐 Minimal driving

📅 Day 3 – Squamish → Whistler
Drive north into the alpine capital of Whistler. Wander through the pedestrian village, ride the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, or dive into mountain biking culture. Park up at Whistler Riverside Resort, where RV sites sit by the river with mountain views.
🚐 ~60 km | 1 hr

📅 Day 4 – Whistler Alpine Day
Immerse yourself fully in the mountains: take on a high-alpine hike or rent bikes for a day in the famous Whistler Bike Park. With the campervan as your basecamp, you can return to your own space for evening BBQs while the sun sets behind glacier peaks.
🚐 No driving

📅 Day 5 – Whistler → Pemberton & Lakes
A short hop north takes you to Pemberton, where glacier-fed lakes and wide-open skies feel a world away. Camp by the water, swim, and share food and drinks with fellow fans. This is the beauty of RV travel — freedom, community, and nature all in one place.
🚐 ~35 km | 40 mins

📅 Day 6 – Pemberton → Vancouver
Return south along the Sea-to-Sky Highway, stopping at scenic lookouts over Howe Sound. Back in Vancouver, park the van and explore the city’s breweries, food scene, and fan zones — the atmosphere will already be building on the eve of matchday.
🚐 ~160 km | 2.5 hrs

📅 Day 7 – Vancouver Matchday!
Stay at Capilano River RV Park or Burnaby Cariboo, both just outside downtown. Join the fan community in the city before walking to BC Place — Canada’s showcase World Cup stadium. This is the moment your road trip builds to: football, fans, and memories that last a lifetime.
🚐 Minimal driving

Other great options you could combine

Vancouver Island Loop: ferries, surf towns like Tofino, and camping beneath ancient cedar forests.

Okanagan Valley Wine Country: wine tastings, lakefront camping, and Canada’s sunniest climate — ideal for RV evenings by the water.

Seattle (USA): link two World Cup host cities with breweries, forests, and Pacific coast drives.

The Rockies Adventure: extend your trip east into the Canadian Rockies — Banff, Jasper, and towering peaks. Epic drives, wildlife, and glacier-blue lakes make this one of the world’s ultimate RV experiences.

Fan campsites in the city & region

Where to Camp Near BC Place:

🏕️ Downtown Vancouver doesn’t allow stadium-side camping, but RV parks just outside the city make it easy to combine urban football with social fan nights. Options include Capilano River RV Park (North Vancouver) and Burnaby Cariboo RV Park — both reachable in under 30 minutes.

Remarkable Campsites in the Region:

🏕️ Alice Lake Provincial Park (Squamish): Forested sites with lake swimming, a favourite for groups.
🏕️ Rathtrevor Beach (Vancouver Island): Beachfront pitches where you can walk from your camper straight to the sand.
🏕️ Whistler Riverside Resort: RV-friendly basecamp with access to mountain biking and ziplining.

Advice for RV Rental for World Cup 2026

Thinking about an RV rental or RV hire for the FIFA World Cup 2026? Here are key tips for first-timers:

  • Book early – demand for RV rentals will be huge in host cities like Philadelphia, New York, and Toronto.
  • Plan your hookups – choose RV campgrounds with electric connections if travelling in hot weather (air conditioning is essential).
  • Size matters – To hire a mid-size RV (22–28ft) is usually the sweet spot for city access + comfort.
  • Driving tips – US interstates are easy to navigate, but plan ahead for parking near stadiums or park and make the last hop to the stadium by public transport points
