Running takes the lead on this north–south journey, moving from Johannesburg’s highveld routes into the Drakensberg’s dramatic Amphitheatre backdrop, across the wide-open gravel roads of the Karoo, and finally to the ocean-facing trails beneath Cape Town’s Twelve Apostles. Expect huge horizons, warm sunrise stretches, gorge-lined passes, and some of the most varied running terrain in South Africa — all perfectly suited to a campervan-powered adventure.
