Franschhoek Camping offers a welcoming, well-maintained base from which to explore the Cape Winelands. Pitches are level and generously spaced, with modern facilities and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The village centre is just minutes away, giving you effortless access to tastings, bistros, fine dining, wine-estate terraces and the Franschhoek Wine Tram.

After a day of exploring, return for a swim, soak in a wood-fired hot tub, or simply enjoy the golden evening light settling over the valley. 1. Pre-book tastings and dinner — popular estates fill quickly, especially on weekends. 2. Choose a walk-to-restaurant pitch — so you can skip any driving after wine pairings. 3. Plan an add-on — link the Winelands with the Whale Coast or Cederberg for variety in a short loop. 4. Pack layers — evenings can cool quickly even after warm afternoons.
Best time of year
Spring (Aug–Oct) brings wildflowers, mild days, and fresh releases in the tasting rooms. Summer (Nov–Feb) offers warm evenings and late sunsets — ideal for alfresco dinners among the vines. Autumn (Mar–May) means harvest vibes, golden vineyards, and comfortable temperatures. Winter (Jun–Jul) is cosy by the fire, with hearty menus and quieter estates.
