Top tips for this trip
Tickets & timing: Ticket sales are separate — lock dates early so we can align your route and campsite plan.
Spring weather: Expect cool mornings and mild afternoons; pack a light mid-layer and rain shell for alpine showers.
Driving & parking: Use paid P+R lots on city days; switch to public transport in Salzburg/Vienna to skip congestion.
Route flexibility: Choose a start city (Vienna/Salzburg/Munich/Milan/Prague) to match flight deals and trip length.
Cultural stops: Mix scenic passes with Mozart sites, cafés, and lakefront strolls to keep legs fresh for city days.
Best time of year
Eurovision weeks (May): Cool mornings and mild afternoons are ideal for sightseeing and short hikes. Alpine roads begin to open; book campsites early in Vienna and Salzburg. If you fancy this trip outside of Eurovision times, the same route works year-round with tweaks for weather and daylight.
Summer (Jun–Aug): Warm to hot days with lake swims and occasional afternoon storms. Popular spots like Hallstatt and Grossglockner are busiest — start early and reserve pitches ahead. Evenings are long, perfect for golden-hour drives.
Autumn (Sep–Oct): Crisp air, colourful forests, and thinner crowds on trails and in towns. Days are mild, nights cooler — pack a warm layer and check shoulder-season campsite hours.
